This page is for you, the child who plays on Euler and STELLA. Your parent has a longer page called the Privacy Notice for Parents. It says the same things in more detail.
Who are we?
We are Swiss eduGLOBE AG. We are a company in Zürich, Switzerland. We run Euler100, a maths championship, and STELLA, where you train for it. Our websites are euler.swiss and stella.academy.
Your parent or guardian opened your account. You could not open it on your own. Your parent holds the account and is in charge of it.
What do we know about you?
We know only a little about you. Here is the whole list.
- Your first name. Not your surname.
- The year you were born. Not the day or the month.
- Your country.
- Your school, if your parent chose it from our list.
- Your alias. That is the name you chose to be known by.
- Your login name and your PIN. Your parent made them for you.
- Your maths work on Euler and STELLA: the problems you tried, the answers you gave, how long you took, your level, your Eulos and your Euler Index.
You also have an Euler ID. It is a code made of letters and numbers. The first numbers are the year you were born and the year you joined. The rest is random. It is your code on Euler. It is yours for ever. It does not say who you are.
What do we never ask?
Some things we never ask for, and we have no place to keep them even if you told us.
- Your surname.
- Your birthday.
- A photo or video of you.
- Your address, your phone number or an e-mail address.
- Where you are right now.
- Your passport or ID card.
- Messages to other children. There is no chat on Euler.
If a page on Euler or STELLA ever asks you for one of these things, stop. Tell your parent. Something is wrong.
We never show you adverts. We never sell anything that is about you.
Who can see you?
Your parent can see everything. Every problem you try, every answer, how long you took. Your parent can open your record at any time. That is how it is meant to be.
Other people can see a little. There are leaderboards on euler.swiss. They show your Euler ID, your rank and your country. They do not show your name. They do not show your school. Nobody can tell who you are from the board.
Your alias is shown on the board only if your parent says yes. Your parent can say no at any time. Then your alias disappears from the board, and from all the old boards too.
Your alias must not be your real name. Pick a name that does not say who you are.
Your school can confirm to us that you are a pupil there. Your school does not see your work on Euler. We never give your school a list of who is playing.
Teachers in the Euler Faculty write the problems. They do not see your name or your work. Later, if your parent books a lesson with a tutor, that tutor will see your alias and your work, and only then.
What is Leo?
Leo gives you hints when you ask for one. Leo is not a person. Wherever you see Leo you will see these words:
"A computer program, not a person. Named for Leonhard Euler."
When you ask Leo for a hint, our computer sends Leo the problem, your answer and a short note about the kind of maths you are good at and the kind you find hard. It does not send your name. Leo does not know your name, your alias, your age, your school or your country.
Do not tell Leo your name, your school or where you live. Leo does not need to know, and we do not want it to.
Leo can be wrong. If a hint feels wrong, ask your parent or your teacher. There is always a person you can ask.
How long do we keep your work?
We keep your work while you have an account, so you can see how far you have come. If your parent closes your account, we delete your name, your alias and everything about who you are within 30 days. Your maths results may stay in our records as numbers with no name attached, so that old leaderboards still add up.
What can you do if something feels wrong?
Tell your parent. Tell a teacher you trust. You can also ask your parent to write to us at privacy@euler.swiss.
Something feels wrong if, for example:
- a page asks you for a photo, your address or your surname;
- someone on Euler tries to contact you;
- you see something unkind or frightening;
- Leo says something strange;
- you think someone is cheating.
You will never be in trouble for telling us.
Who can you talk to?
Your parent or guardian first. They hold your account and can see everything. Then a teacher at your school. If you want to reach us, your parent can write to privacy@euler.swiss and we will answer within 30 days.
What are your rights?
These are things you are allowed to ask for. Your parent asks for you while you are young. When you are older you can ask us yourself.
- To see everything we know about you. Your parent can already see it on their dashboard.
- To fix something that is wrong, like your alias or your school.
- To take your alias off the boards.
- To not be on the boards at all, and still play.
- To delete your account and everything about you.
- To get a copy of your work.
We will never treat you worse for asking.
One more thing
Honesty is what keeps your place at Euler. The Code of Conduct you agreed to, point by point, is a promise about how you play. It is not a contract. Your parent holds the account and is responsible for it. If a rule is broken, it is the account that is reviewed, and a person, not a computer, decides.
If you want to know more, your parent's page is the Privacy Notice for Parents. It is linked at the bottom of every page.
